Prophecy...1 Corinthians 14:3-4 says, "...one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and comfort...he who prophesies edifies the church." At TFC we believe that God uses prophecy as a valuable and important method of communication with the church in general, as well as this body in particular. Prophecies are given in the Sunday service, but we also receive prophecies by other means. After some consideration the Pastor and Elders feel that the best way to make these prophecies available to the body is to post them on our website. In this way the members of TFC can read and evaluate these prophecies as they occur, as well as refer to them as a kind of ongoing conversation between the Lord and us. We do not post every prophecy that comes to us. The Elders prayerfully consider each prophecy we receive and decide if it should be posted on a case by case basis. The prophecies posted here are those deemed to be both inspired and edifying. We believe that prophecy requires accountability. To that end, each prophecy will include the person's name and the date they gave the prophecy. We will not post prophecies anonymously, however me may occasionally edit names or details out of a prophecy in recognition of the public nature of a website. In the end, we feel led to share these with our body for their own reflection and edification. Prophecy is held up as a powerful spiritual gift, one that we are told to "seek earnestly." We hope this page will encourage both the reader and the people who gave the prophecies.
A final note: Many people hear or read prophecies and are left wondering what they should do because of them, particularly if the prophecy contains correction or warning. First we should take comfort in its very existence. Rejoice that the Lord continues to speak to His people! He speaks that we might hear and respond. Prophecy should move our hearts to seek Him more than we did before. So, if a word comes and troubles your heart, seek the Lord. Bring your thoughts and questions to Him and ask for His guidance. In the final analysis prophecy is a mysterious method of communication, and we do well to respect the mystery and avoid the urge to over analyze it. Walk with God. |
